Abstract

This certified methodology presents an updated and comprehensive system for silage quality evaluation adapted to Czech agricultural practice. It builds upon the currently used Norma 2004 evaluation system (AgroKonzulta Žamberk s.r.o.) and addresses its limitations by introducing new analytical parameters, a modernised sensory scoring system, and a milk production prediction index. The methodology describes five groups of evaluation methods: chemical composition analysis with extended fibre and starch degradability parameters (NDFDom 30h, uNDF 240h, 7h StarchD), fermentation quality assessment, modernised organoleptic evaluation using a 1–5 weighted scale with transparent disqualification rules, thermal monitoring of the fermentation process and aerobic stability, and prediction of the MILK2024-CZ milk production index. The integrated evaluation framework combines the outputs of all methods into a structured assessment report at three levels of scope (A–C). The methodology constitutes the methodological foundation of the AISilageFeeding project (NAZV QL26010434, 2026–2030), which aims to integrate artificial intelligence and drone-based monitoring into silage quality assessment and dairy cattle feeding optimisation. During the project implementation period (2026–2030), the methodology will be verified using data from Czech and Slovak farms, and an updated version will be published upon project completion.
