Abstract

Despite the very different state of the Polish agrarian sector in 1989 (small operations, low numbers of farmed animals per farm, high number of agricultural workers, etc.) than in the Czech Republic, Polish agriculture in recent years had a remarkable development. This is evidenced, for example, by an increase in production of beef, pork and poultry meat between 1998 and 2018 at current prices of approximately 240, 12 and 405 % (in the Czech Republic for the same commodities +18, -35 and +81%), per hectare of agricultural land in the same period for the same commodities by 299, 32 and 493 % (in the Czech Republic +31, -28 and +100 %). This development is „ranked“ Poland is among the most important agricultural countries of the European Union.
