The article deals with the transition period in the sow nutrition, which is the most critical part of the reproductive cycle. The sow’s nutritional requirements change very significantly and quickly, and it is not possible to achieve optimal nutrient levels with a single mixture. The development of a feeding strategy to meet the changing requirements is challenging, especially for highly productive sows with large litters.
