Abstract | Significant increases in the use of antibiotics in animal husbandry, including their irresponsible use (underdosing, prescribing), overuse and abuse (e.g. in viral infections), are the key factors of the development of antimicrobial resistance in humans pathogens. Together with management and biosecurity, vaccination is an integral part of prevention of bacterial and viral infections, which also reduce the use of antimicrobials, and thus protect and reduce the increase of infections caused antimicrobial-resistant pathogens. Therefore, with the declining availability of new antibiotics, vaccination is one of the important tools for reducing the incidence of antimicrobial resistance. |
