Abstract

The WELLUP pen is a farrowing pen that aims at improving welfare of lactating sows and their piglets by offering the possibility of temporary confinement. The aim of this document is to give a technical description of the WELLUP pen and to provide a guidance on how it can be used as a safe alternative to farrowing crate.
