Abstract

Hemp seed is a source of valuable substances, such as n-3 fatty acids or vitamin E, which increase the quality of products but also influence animal health. Hemp seed has the potential to reduce the risk of fractures in laying hens, which will arise during the transition from cage to floor systems due to the ban of breeding of hens in enriched cages from 2027. The results concerning the increase in tibia strength as a result of feeding a mixture fortified with hemp seed are unique and were first published by Professor Skřivan and colleagues in the foreign scientific journal PLOS One in 2019. The feed mixture for hens with hemp and flaxseed is legally protected by a utility model.
