In commercial pig farm, mass occurrence of skin lesions with following infections was documented in suckling piglets in farrowing pens. Skin trauma was brought about by use of disinfectant containing glycerin that created oil-film on the flat and smoothsurface of plastic grates where piglets slide backward. Following wound infection lead to arthritides most frequently brought on by Streptococcus suis serovar 1. After stopping disinfections, the injuries of thoracic limb were reduced. Likewise, coveringof slippery grates by plastic matting caused significant reduction injury of thoracic and pelvic limbs.
