Abstrakt

Holstein cows were fed total mixed rations (TMR) supplemented with protected palm fat (PPF), whole sunflower seed (WSS) or extruded linseed (ELS). With WSS and ELS, percentage of milk fat and yield of FCM were increased. Concentration of PUFA was higherand PUFA n-6/n-3 ratios lower in the milk fat from ELS compared to WSS. Supplementation with oilseeds compared to PPF increased CLA in milk fat and decreased its atherogenicity. Both oilseeds improved the spreadability index of manufactured butter. Thus, feeding of oilseeds to dairy cows improved nutritional quality of milk fat.
