The aim of the study is to examine the relationship between acoustic variation of crowing and male quality of roosters in domestic chickens. Roosters represent an ideal animal model for testing the role of acoustic signals as indicators of male quality. Roosters establish linear dominance hierarchies based on their fighting ability.
