Abstrakt

The most recent calibration of classification methods was performed in the Czech Republic in 2012. However, the pig population has changed significantly over that time, and it was therefore necessary to bring the methods used up to current levels. There was created a sample of carcasses representing the current pig population in the Czech Republic and an authorization test was performed, which is necessary for the approval of new regression equations for estimating lean meat content with carcass grading devices. The laborious manual detailed dissection was replaced by the sophisticated method of computed tomography. The proposed regression equations were approved by EU experts and will be used for grading pigs within the Czech Republic after their introduction into legislation.
