Master departmentEthology
Description

„Ethology and welfare of cervids and equids“ group pays attention on basic biology of behaviour mostly of cervids and equids (as well as other species) kept usually in loose housing, zoological gardens, and also living in the wild. Part of the research program is directed to extension to practice. There are two main lines of investigation according to main groups of species studied. Nevertheless, the teams complement each other in closely tied collaboration.

Our main objectives are social factors with the emphasis on investigation of detailed relationship between individuals within a group linked to physiological characteristics and well-being of the animals.

All scientists of the group are involved in teaching at several universities across the country. The group has been closely integrated into international cooperation.
