Abstract

New technologies of maize harvests are evolved in last years. These technologies provide forage matter with different parameters, where is different theoretical length of cut and processing of kernels and whole plants. The main differences are given by various constructions of corn cracker concepts. In our experiments we compared new and usual technologies based on kernel processing, fermentation quality, structure and physically effective neutral detergent fibre and nutrient digestibility. New technologies of maize silage harvest had higher kernel processing. Better processing leads to higher nutrient digestibility, mainly dry matter and fibre. Higher digestibility leads to higher amount of NEL and production potential of silages. Shredlage method had potential to increase physically effective fibre. Any method did not worse parameters of fermentation or aerobic stability of silages.
