There is the long tradition of collecting and exploitation of the plant genetic resources in the Czech Republic. National program of conservation and utilization of plant genetic resources was established in 1994. In order to preserve the genetic resources of plants in situ and ex situ approaches are used. Storage capacity of seed gene bank in the Czech Republic is 93 000 samples.
