Abstract | Czech Red cattle (CR) is a historical cattle breed with unclear origin that prevailed in the territory of the Czech lands until the 19th century. The breed is today represented by a limited population, which is included in a conservation programme. Like related breeds of the group of mountain red cattle, e.g., Harz Red cattle and Salers, CR is sometimes reported to be associated with the ancient Celtic cattle, however, historical or archaeological evidence is missing. |
