Abstract

In the year 2009 the population size of Wallachian Sheep was 301 ewes and 26 rams. During the až years 2001 – 2009 the average prolificacy in the population ranged from 125.5% to 146.4% and average lamb live-weights at 100 days of age from 17.3 to 23.9 kg. Slight decrease in genetic trends for the prolificacy and the overall selection index CPH could be observable. Average inbreeding coefficient Fx ranged from 0.029 to 0.110 for lambs born in different years. Notable proportion of animals (6.3%) came from very close inbreeding. Relative frequencies of ARR allele of PrP gene and coarse wool grades have increased during the last decade.
