Abstract | We estimated the genetic parameters and genomic breeding values for cystic ovarian disease (COD) resistance. We used data of 30,729 Holstein cows recorded by Czech farmers between 2017-2021. We conducted pedigree- and genomic-based evaluation. Estimated heritability was small (h2 = 0.02). Breeding values were normally distributed. Their reliability increased with added genomic information evaluated with single-step genomic method. This increase was the highest in genotyped cows, where the mean reliability increased threefold. Genetic trends showed gradual improvement of resistance to cystic ovarian disease in Czech Holstein cows. The study was supported by the Ministry of Agriculture of the Czech Republic, project NAZV QK1810253 and institutional support MZE-RO0718. |
