Abstract

The aim of this articlewas to evaluate the economics of milk production in Slovakia after counting out the implicit (non-financial) costs from the total costs in the years 2006-2010. Profitability of milk production increased by 24 % after counting out the non-financial costs during the evaluated period. The average costs necessary to achieve the zero profitability were of 4.973 € per feeding day during this period. Contrary, the real financial costs per feeding day were of value 4.300 €. This resulted in a cost saving of 0.673 € per feeding day of dairy cattle.
