Number of pigs born alive and length of the farrowing interval deffined as the new breeding goals of dam pig breeds is the basic requirement for improving the reproductive performance. Positive selective response in the breeding objectives and elimination of prolonged farrowing interval was achieved by using the overall reproduction index.
