Abstract

The stationary multifunctional feeding and drinkingplace for cervids is designed to be placed inside the farm enclosure. It is made of a robust construction that also serves as a container for preserved fodder (baled and bulk hay, haylage) and creates a sufficient number of feeding places. The spacing of the barriers allows the animal to only pass through the head and neck to receive food at different times, including the half-empty container, but at the same time prevents the animal from entering the container. In order to limit the crawl of animals and the shifting of bulk feed to the animals, the design of the inclined bottom of the container and the hanging of the trough in front of the barriers to better access to animals. Feeder reduces contamination by droppings and hauling hay to the ground. The feeder can be used to ensure year-round and safe access to feed for all categories of animals / game, including rut season, and allows distribution and access of feed to subordinary animals i.e. equally to whole herd. The system was designed to be roofed to prevent the degradation of feed by weathering and to provide non-contact manual or preferably mechanized replenishment on farms to ensure minimal disturbance to animals as well as operator safety (especially during rut). The feeder is ready to be fitted with a drinker and has container fro mineral feeds. This stationary feeder has been designed to be able to be moved by conventional machinery (eg by front forkcliff loader) if necessary (eg in a rotary grazing system).
