Abstract | Puublication summarizes factors that significantly impact the spread of African swine fever (ASF) virus, as well as the strategies and techniques that can improve the control and eradication of ASF in local wild boar populations. The current scientific knowledge has been reviewed and results of the project MZe QK1920184 (‘AMOR’) presented, that has aimed to check, test and verify various technical and biological procedures in order to localize and prevent resources of the infection in free-ranging wild boar populations in Czechia. The main topics: population dynamics and structure; reproductive strategies and potential; behavioural ecology of wild boar; population (hunting) management; spatial behaviour and effective ways of spatial restrictions (including special fences, deterrents, or attractants); methods for searching the animals and their cadavers (including thermocameras, drones, or dogs); detection of potential ASF infection vectors in the forest. |
