Abstract

Algae represent a source of essential nutrients, mainly vitamins, polyunsaturated fatty acids and carotenoids. Algae are the alternative of synthetic carotenoids. Using algae the optimum colour of yolks and better oxidative stability of yolk lipids can be obtained. The study presents a number of examples of algae use in poultry nutrition and algae dosing in laying hens and broiler chickens.
