Abstract | Cannabis sativa L. is a plant that has received increasing attention in recent years due to its potential medicinal properties and importance in agriculture and industry. One major area of research regarding cannabis is its anti-staphylococcal activity. Staphylococcal infections are a serious health problem in both humans and livestock. The serious side effects of currently used antibiotics and the spread of antibiotic resistance genes in bacteria such as methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus, pose an increasing threat to public health. The results of this study demonstrated the effect of ethanol extracts of C. sativa against both tested strains of S. aureus (MSSA and MRSA) across all tested vegetation phases (first to seventh week of growth). The highest antistaphylococcal effect was recorded in the seventh week for all nutritional variants. |
