The aim of this paper is to give a brief report on the development of organic farming with a focus on livestock production and consumption of organic animal foods. The paper is based on data from statistical surveys of organic farming and reports on the organic food market from the Institute of Agricultural Economics and Information, organic farming yearbooks available on the website of the Ministry of Agriculture, data from Eurostat, the Register of Organic Entrepreneurs and the Forschungsinstitut für biologischen Landbau (FiBL, Research Institute for Organic Agriculture). The development is also mapped graphically, since 2012, as this is the time when data from the above sources are available.
