Abstract

The aim of this methodology is to create a methodical process for sheep breeders in the CzechRepublic. This material describes the epidemiological principles of gastrointestinal nematodes, coccidia and tapeworms, with an emphasis on significant transmission factors. Another part of the methodology presents an overview of the various parasite elimination methods from past and present. The methodology includes a description of the main anthelmintic groups, an overview of sheep parasites common in the CzechRepublic, as well as parasite prevalence and pathogenicity. The most important part of the methodology provides a summary of practical preventative principles and recommendations for sheep breeders. If the measures are implemented, the animals will stay healthy and resilient to infections, and as a result, sheep breeding will bring about not only satisfaction but also financial gain.
