The article introduces the reader to the course and content of the lectures that were presented at the international Research in Pig Breeding workshop. The meeting of experts was organized by the Pig Breeding Department of the Institute of Animal Science. Representatives of several countries gathered at the event, in addition to the Czech Republic, guests came from Hungary, Slovakia, Poland and Ukraine. The lectures were mainly focused on the issue of housing technology for farrowing and lactating sows, as well as issues of veterinary care, reproduction and husbandry economics in connection with new sources of food.
