The American concept for progress in genomics Genome to Phenomene sets tasks for the breeding of farm animals up to 2027. Although it intends to apply techniques which use is severely restricted in the European Union (eg. cloning or genome editing), it offers an example of a comprehensive approach to animal breeding using the up-to-date techniques. For the United States, this approach ensures that their animal production will remain competitive, will meet the needs of the consumers, will improve animal welfare and will be sustainable with respect to environmental protection.
