Abstract

Přeštice black-pied pig is our national breed that probably originated of the crossing Old-Bohemian Bristled pig and Bavarian pig breed in Western Bohemia (Přeštice, Klatovy and Domažlice) in the second half of the 19th century. This breed is characterized by high reproduction performance, adaptability, rather easy care and resistance to stress but disadvantage is higher back-fat thickness, lower % of lean muscle and worse conversion of fodder. As separate breed was recognized in 1964, in 1992 was included in the program of preservation of animal genetic resources in the Czech Republic and since 1996 is breed in a closed population. In the workplace Pig breeding in Kostelec nad Orlicí is dealt with cryopreservation of Přeštice black-pied boar spermatozoa as animal genetic resources. The sperm quality parameters of the boars of the Přeštice black-pied breed during eight years was analyzed and results were evaluated..
