Abstract

The aim was to compare the differences in digestibility of low-lignin Brown midrib (BMR) corn hybrids and corn hybrids with conventional content of lignin, using in vitro methods (NIRS) and in sacco. Statistically significant differences were found between the BMR and conventional hybrids in starch contents (20,6 vs 24,6 % DM), digestibility of organic matter (76,3 vs 71,0 %) and digestibility of neutral detergent fibre NDF (61,3 vs 50,3 %). Significant differences were found also between analyses on NIRS device and in sacco analyses, but with high correlation coefficient (0,69 –0,95 %) between methods.
