Abstract | The aim of this study was to determine the effectiveness of two disinfectants used on the teats before milking and their influence on quality of sheep milk. The research included two groups of 20 ewes during one month. The teats of the first group of ewes were treated by disinfectant A (solution of iodine) before milking, while the teats of the second group were treated by disinfectant B (solution of fatty alcohol ether sulfates). The microbiological contamination of the teat surface before and after disinfection was observed by using the swabs method. We proved the total bacterial count (TBC) and the number of coliform bacteria (CB). In individual milk samples we assessed the selected indicators of microbiological quality of milk (total bacterial count –TBC, coliform bacteria – CB and somatic cell count – SCC). The values were statistically evaluated by using analysis of covariance in Statistica. It was proved statistically significant reduction of microbial contamination of teats surface after using both disinfectants. Based on the evaluation of microbiological composition of sheep milk samples it is possible to say, that in the given conditions is more effectively disinfectant B. |
