The seminar „Biosecurity – the basis of the protection of farms against the introduction of infectious disease agents“ dealt with the importance and principles of biosecurity as an integral part of the prevention of antimicrobial resistance in livestock farms. As part of the seminar, a paper dealing with the management of biosecurity during the rearing of calves and in pig farms was presented. Furthermore, a paper dealing with the perspectives of the use of antimicrobial substances for the rational treatment of bacterial diseases of farm animals was presented. This contribution was followed by the issue of prevention of cattle limb diseases and, on the other hand, reducing the risks of the emergence and spread of antimicrobial resistance in dairy herds.
