Abstract

Testing of the nutritional value of various varieties of peas, broad beans, narrow-leaved lupins and yellow lupins at the Institute of Animal Science was carried out in the last two years as part of the NAZV project – Domestic protein crops in cattle nutrition. In this project, we focused not only on the quality of the grain, which can be quite different, but especially on the quality parameters of forage in different stages of growth and the associated suitability of terms for ensiling with an assessment of the quality parameters of silage. From the point of view of digestibility of dry matter, the best silages were pea and silage, however, narrow-leaved lupine had the highest digestibility of NL, fiber and NDF. NL digestibility was lowest for broad bean silage.
