Abstract

In the Šumperk region, the best time for harvesting is at the beginning of July, for grain harvesting at the end of July. The results showed how important the correct estimation of the harvest is, the dry matter content of whole pea plants increased by about 1% per day. The tendril pea varieties, in contrast to leaf type peas, had on average a lower content of N-substances and a higher content of starch in dry matter, but at the same time they mostly had lower digestibility of organic matter and coarse fiber. The tendril pea varieties Gambit and Trendy were the most suitable for ensiling. In the case of the Protin variety, due to the higher content of N-substances, a lower silageability can be assumed. Grain yields were the highest for the Saxon variety, the lowest for the Impuls variety. It has been confirmed that the nutritional values of whole plants as well as pea grain yields are dependent on the development of the weather in a given year. The influence of the weather was greater than the influence of the variety.
