Mastitis management at the level of the clinical, subclinical mastitis and selective dry cow therapy based on data analysis and interpretation and on farm culture systém was introduced into the farm protocols. Selected indicators of herd health status and antimicrobials consumption were evaluated and compared with the previous way of diagnostics and treatment of mastitis and the blanket dry cow therapy. In connection with the prudent use of antimicrobials based on the knowledge of the causative agent, a positive trend in the occurrence of resistance in mastitis pathogens was also recorded.
